Certified financial planner and CPA Tom Corley, who\u00a0conducted a five-year study on 233 wealthy and 128 poor people to write his book \u201cRich Habits,\u201d seems to agree:<\/p>\n

\u201cIt seems the poor cannot control their emotions,\u201d Corley wrote on his Rich Habits website in 2013. \u201cForty-three percent of the poor admitted to losing their temper at least once in the past month vs. 19 percent of the wealthy.\u201d<\/p>\n

11. Maintain a Daily To-Do List<\/h2>\n

In his book \u201cRich Habits,\u201d Corley stumbled upon another finding: Wealthy and successful people utilize to-do lists in order to achieve their goals. In fact, his research showed that\u00a081 percent of the wealthy maintain a to-do list vs. 19 percent of poor people.<\/p>\n

\u201cSuccessful people are goal-oriented,\u201d Corley wrote in his book. \u201cThey create goals all the time. Daily goals are represented in their daily to-do lists.\u201d<\/p>\n

So before you start your day, \u201ccompile a daily goal\/to-do list.\u00a0List only those things that have a realistic probability\u00a0\u2014 80 percent chance\u00a0\u2014 of being completed that day,\u201d he advised.\u00a0\u201cPrioritize this list and set a specific time in which to tackled them.\u201d<\/p>\n

12. Cut Out the TV Habit<\/h2>\n

Only 23 percent of the rich admitted to watching more than an hour of TV a day, compared with 77 percent of poor people. And, 78 percent of the people who watch more than an hour of TV a day are tuning in to reality TV. That leaves time for wealthy folks to do other things that broaden their financial horizons, such as reading.<\/p>\n

For this reason, Corley considers watching TV a \u201cpoverty habit\u201d instead of a \u201crich habit.\u201d<\/p>\n

13. Network, Network, Network<\/h2>\n

Successful people tend to dedicate time to widening their circles of acquaintance and influence, whether through business organizations, LinkedIn or groups that attract\u00a0ambitious, entrepreneurial minds.<\/p>\n

To expand your professional network, tap into your existing network first. For example, reach out to your old college classmates or professors, and even ask your friends and family members if they can help you find people to connect\u00a0with.<\/p>\n

14. Block Your Time<\/h2>\n

New York Times best-selling author Brendon Burchard\u00a0\u2014\u00a0who\u2019s been photographed next to\u00a0uber-successful people like Oprah, Bill Gates, Richard Branson, Tony Robbins, Arianna Huffington and more \u2014 is an advocate of\u00a0blocking\u00a0out time for yourself.<\/p>\n
