Once you make that transition from the honeymoon phase to a full on relationship, though, it\u2019s often time to broach the serious subjects \u2013 like career aspirations, children, finances and even your most sought after dreams and deepest secrets. Once you\u2019re married and have started a family, keeping the conversation going and those lines of communication flowing is absolutely essential to staying completely in touch with one another. It\u2019s one of the things JR and I try to keep up no matter the time or distance we find ourselves juggling. Communicating openly and often is the only way to keep your relationship at its best. Even if it seems mundane \u2013 you should be in the know of everything your spouse is dealing with \u2013 and vice versa! How else will you know what\u2019s going on with one another?<br \/>\n<strong>Be open about money<\/strong>. Financial challenges can easily cause a huge strain on a relationship and making sure you\u2019re able to talk about those issues is important for getting through the tough times. Set some financial goals and guidelines \u2013 together \u2013 to be sure you\u2019re after the same dream.<br \/>\n<strong>Just be<\/strong>. Sometimes there\u2019s nothing as wonderful or as essential as simply spending time together and talking about nothing.
