Beauty Pro Dishes on Major NYFW Hair Trends
With New York Fashion Week wrapped we turned to Cricket celebrity hairstylist, Melissa Peverini, to get the scoop on all the latest trends. Here is her take on the five Fall 2015 hair trends everyone needs to know about.
Strong Prim Middle Part
Seen at Prabal Gurung, Tanya Taylor, Anna Sui.
“This look is youthful and bold. The center part is sleek, precise and smooth then softens to naturally texturize the hair. It references the 70’s but textured ends make it modern (instead of Brady Bunch).” To create this look:
*create part when wet and blow dry with a concentrator nozzle pointing downward using a paddle brush
*using a flat iron, pass through to small sections
*brush to smooth and tuck behind ears
Low Textured Buns with ends left out
Seen at Vera Wang, Altuzarra, DVF.
“A spin on the simple low ballet bun.” To create this look:
*blow dry hair with a diffuser, wiggle from ends to roots as drying
*split hair in half at the neck and tie them together in a knot.
*tuck some of the ends under the knot with pins, leaving tips of both ends out.
Modern Art Hair Accessories
Gold circle hair clips at Celine. Brass barrettes at Angel Sanchez. Leather rope ties with silver hardware at Tanya Taylo
“This is a versatile look that can work for every day wear.” To create this look:
*blow dry using a thermal round brush and twirl off the brush finishing with a cold shot.
*brush hair into a half-up-do and secure in back with a gold barrette.
Deep, Sleek Side Part
Seen at Thakoon, Donna Karan, Jason Wu, Rachel Zoe.
“This is an elegant and classic style.” To create this look:
*create a deep side part when hair is wet.
*blow dry hair 50%, pointing downward to seal cuticle.
*Section hair in 3 sections, back, left and right. Finish drying each section, swooping under the roots, mid-shaft and ends.
*Pass a styling iron through lightly pressing, you don’t want to flatten too much.
*Tightly tease under the side of part for a soft lift and then smooth top hairs. Tuck behind ears.
Big Texture
Seen at Tom Ford and Tory Burch.
“Hair has volume and looks undone.” To create this look:
*blow dry with Cricket Q-Zone Featherlight Hairdryer and the diffuser attachment. Wiggle the diffuser up to the root as you
dry, giving some textured strands.
*once hair is dry, use the Static Free Fast Flo Brush and direct lift to one side. At the part, brush over a couple inches,
then push forward, apply heat blast, then cold shot. This will create a full ridge at the roots.
*pull through strands with heat around face for a little smoothing.
*using a styling iron, place random sections between plates, wrap hair around once and slide down a couple inches,
leaving ends out. This creates a bend throughout the hair for added texture.
*tease around the part leaving hairs to drop around the face.
